America SCORES Milwaukee's Alumni program was developed during the 2012-2013 school year after recognizing the limited opportunities available to middle-school aged youth during the after-school hours. Hosted during the winter months, Alumni SCORES introduces students to futsal -- a variation of indoor soccer which is typically played on a hardwood surface (indoor gyms).
While Alumni SCORES gives youth a safe and structured place to be during high-risk afterschool hours, staff are trained to incorporate health/nutrition, leadership, and conflict resolution instruction into each session.
Open only to students who have participated in Elementary SCORES, this program brings together students who all have a common background. Among friends and led by familiar staff, participants are in a safe environment where they can learn new things, express themselves freely, and discuss issues that they may be facing in their new schools.
Students who take part in Alumni SCORES also have the opportunity for further involvement throughout the year as assistant soccer coaches (for Elementary SCORES), as well as coaches and counselors for summer camps.
