While school-year programming encompasses soccer, creative writing, and service learning, during the summer months America SCORES Milwaukee opens the doors for children to participate in a variety of activities and experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime. Collaborating with various community organizations enables Milwaukee's urban youth to experience the community outside of the central-city.
Through the scholarship program of the Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation, two America SCORES Milwaukee and two America SCORES Chicago girls spent the week in Oak Brook, Illinois with Olympians Julie Foudy and Danielle Slaton. During this five-night, six-day residential Academy for girls ages 12-18, the SCORES girls took part in the Academy curriculum which focuses on two overlapping components-- sports and leadership. The aim of the JFSLA is to expose students to Julie’s great passion: the concept of not just being a leader on the field but a LEADER IN LIFE.
As a approved wellness vendor for Milwaukee Public Schools, America SCORES Milwaukee offered week-long soccer camps. With all equipment including portable goals, SCORES staff is able to setup soccer fields anywhere in the city. The pictures below highlight one summer camp hosted at Humboldt Park School. Thanks to the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club, all participating students received a free soccer ball at the end of the week!

At the JCC Rainbow Day Camp, a group of nearly 30 America SCORES Milwaukee students participated in swimming, boating, arts and crafts, archery, nature hikes, rock climbing, and many more exciting activities during their daily trips to Fredonia.

America SCORES Milwaukee, along with the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club, hosts evening soccer camps at Washington Park on Milwaukee's north side. Held twice per week, these free camps have been filled with children ranging from 4-11 years old. As interest grows, a new region of the Milwaukee Kickers is being developed for children in the Washington Park neighborhood and will begin in fall 2011.
