My Other Side
By Mariana C.
Riley Elementary

You’ve never seen my other side
Like times I got mad and started to cry
I don’t like to show my other side
Because on that side I have no pride
I really hate my other side
It’s just not me I don’t know why
Bad things happen on my other side
Like this one time I lied and lied
There’s things I can’t say on my other side
For example, I can’t say I tried
I’ll never show my other side
“cause I try, I don’t cry,
I don’t lie, and I have PRIDE”
That’s why I don’t show, like,
or obey MY OTHER SIDE

Little Big Man
By Cordell N.
Carleton Elementary

I'm Cordell Nichols and I don't like pickles
I hear a lot of good things about me
One day I want to hear some of those things on TV
I see my family when I go home
I have been waiting to see them all along
I'm smart, brave and strong
And that is how I act all day long
I dream of being in the NBA
Everybody wants to be something someday
I try to make a difference in my life
And my community

I'm A Little Big Man.

I Am
By Deshawn
Carleton Elementary

I am intelligent
I hear my mom when she calls me
I see bad things
I am 10 years old
I dream good things
I try to make a difference by stopping fights
I am grateful for what I have.

Mom
By Nayely M.
Riley Elementary

Having a mom is having love,
Support and friendship rolled into one awesome person,
See I love my mother not only for what she is
but for what I am
When I'm with her.
I love her not only for what she has made of herself,
But for what she is making of me...
I love her for looking over my foolish traits,
That you cannot help but see.
I love her for drawing into the light my beauty
That no one else had looked far enough to find.

Jaguar
By Nikita F., age 10
Windlake Elementary

I can run like a jaguar with my long legs on the field.
My ears can hear what my coach says.
I can block goals the other teams kick.
When I hit the ball with my head, I feel dizzy like I ran in circles.
I'm quick on the field and the ball stays close.
With my mouth I roar, "I LOVE SCORES!"

ABC Style Poem
By Erick M., Age 10
Windlake Elementary

America SCORES.
Building athletes.
Commitment.
Dedication
Equals scores.
Forget ball hogs.
Goal!
Hear the crowd roar.
Include teammates.
Jump and header.
Kick a headliner.
Lose?
Me!
Never!
Our team
Puts
Q in Quit
Resting on the sidelines.
Shake hands.
Team
Up.
Velocity.
Win!
X-rays for broken feet.
Yield to a stop.
Zoom into a championship.

Los deseos de Hayes

I wish people treated each other equally.
Yo deseo tener dinero para darles a los pobres.
I wish that all people had a place to live.
I wish that my mom and dad would never die.
I wish I had a lot of money so that I can buy a lot of
things.
I wish there was a cure for the awful arthritis.
Yo deseo ser millonario para comprar video juegos.
I wish I ruled the galaxy and beyond so that we could
be friends with the cool aliens.
Yo deseo tener toda mi familia junta en los Estados
Unidos.
I wish that my family and I Hill always be happy.
I wish I had a tree that gives me money so that I can
buy my mom a present.
I wish that the world would be without any bad things.
If we could only have one wish, we would choose to
make the world a better place.

A Peaceful Blue Sky
By Omar L.
Windlake Elementary

A peaceful blue sky looking down at me,
Hear the beautiful and peaceful rustling trees.
Look at the sky, how it looks at you,
The relaxing colors of the sky are white and blue.
To fall asleep, look up and just stare,
Always remember who’s watching you from up there.
The sky is white,
The sky is blue.
How you look at the sky is how it will look at you.

ABC Style Poem
By Jessica Rojas, Age 10
Windlake Elementary

Ballerinas twirl gracefully
Caring about their performance
Dancing as if there were no tomorrow
Each in her pink tutu.
